The Guy Who Reviews Sports Books
The ideal way would be to read baseball books, as the baseball season heads to the break. I started with this publication on the Houston Astros and their system that required them from three straight 100 loss seasons. This is my review of”Astroball”
“Astroball: The New Way to Win it All” by Ben Reiter

Baseball is nicely to a new era in which statistical information is analyzed and used for just about any decision a group makes, from which players to draft to where to place those players on the diamond when a batter steps into the box. While the concept started in the early 2000’s using”Moneyball”, the revolutionary book by Michael Lewis about the Oakland Athletics using this plan, the Houston Astros dug even deeper to statistical analysis and their work repaid with a World Series championship in 2017. How they got there is the storyline of this publication by Sports Illustrated writer Ben Reiter.
It is very important to note that Reiter is a Sports Illustrated writer because he wrote a cover story to the magazine at 2014 forecasting that the Astros are the 2017 champions. It seemed outlandish at the time since the Astros were enduring through their third successive season of more than 100 losses. On the other hand, the brain trust of general director Scott Luhnow and rocket-scientist-turned-baseball-analyst Sig Mejdal saw their strategy implemented beginning in 2011 was starting to take shape.
